Irish snap up Mayhew
London Irish have confirmed the signing of hooker Mike Mayhew on a three-year contract from Championship leaders Newcastle.
Mayhew, 26, joined Irish as injury cover earlier this season and has now agreed a permanent move.
"Mike made a big impression when he played for us earlier in the season," Irish rugby director Brian Smith said. "He is a big fella and dynamic ball-carrier, so he will fit into our game very well. He is also English-qualified, and I believe he has the potential to kick on and play Test rugby."
In addition to Mayhew, Newcastle will also lose back-row forward Taiasina Tu'ifua this summer after the Falcons announced he has agreed a two-year deal with French club Bordeaux-Begles.
