The Yankees have placed Gary Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list after he aggravated an injury to his right groin.
The New York side have recalled catcher Kyle Higashioka from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before their game against the Rays on Wednesday morning.
Sanchez made two errors in the Yankee’s 7-6 loss to Tampa Bay last night.
The 25-year-old was shelved through the All-Star break with the same injury in June.
He returned from the disabled list on Friday against the Mets in the Bronx, going 1-for-9 with four strikeouts in the Subway Series.
Sanchez has a .188 batting average on the year, with 14 home runs and 42 RBIs.
Austin Romine is expected to catch the majority of games for the Yanks.
