Hogan was let go from the company in 2015 after a tape was released showing him making racist remarks.
Vince McMahon’s promotion has since removed his profile from the Hall of Fame and has rarely mentioned his name.
PWInsider claim Hogan and the wrestling company have started discussing a possible return to the industry several weeks ago.
WWE released a statement saying: "We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE."

The 12-time world champion has apologised for the offensive language.
He told The View that the racist remarks were “probably the stupidest thing I've ever said”.
Hillbilly Jim, who’s expected to join the Hall of Fame on April 6, said he’d love to be inducted by Hogan.
He insisted though that he has yet to decide who will bring him out on stage in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Hogan has said he is determined to make up for his mistakes and get back in McMahon’s good books.
