Wright suffered his first loss this year in the competition, going down 7-4 to Cross.
In front of a packed out crowd in Newcastle, Cross and Wright were the third match on and played out a thrilling encounter.
But it ended on a sour note when Cross went to shake hands with his opponent at the end of the game.
Wright rejected the proposal and grabbed his darts as he promptly left the stage.
Fans were mystified as to why Wright behaved like he did but some didn’t take too kindly him showing a lack of respect.
