Mo Farah ends season by winning Great North Run for second year in a row
MO FARAH ended his season by becoming the third man to defend the men's elite race of the Morrisons Great North Run.
Mo Farah won the World 5,000m and 10,000m titles last month
The 5,000m and 10,000m world champion outsprinted Kenyan Stanley Biwott over the final 400m to win in a time of 59 minutes 22 seconds - the fastest half marathon by a British athlete.
"That was knackering," said Farah. "I thought it would have been a lot easier. But Stanley is a class athlete and he pushed me hard."
Gemma Steel was second in the women's race behind Kenyan Mary Keitany. David Weir and Shelly Woods won the wheelchair events.
