Monster start for Glasgow at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games
THE Commonwealth Games opened in Glasgow last night in the presence of The Queen, Rod Stewart – and the Loch Ness Monster.
Every element of a great Scottish party was set in full swing by rocker Stewart performing on stage at Celtic Park, the home of the football club he adores.
A recreation of the Loch Ness Monster delighted the crowd ahead of the action which starts this morning.
It is set to be a glorious occasion in Scotland with Hampden Park renovated with a running track where Mo Farah will be chasing 5,000m and 10,000m gold.
England will be hoping for glory from the start as Olympic triathlon champion Alistair Brownlee competes today.
