Chemmy Alcott rounds off career with Super G win
CHEMMY ALCOTT won her final Super G title before retirement as she finished top of the podium at the British National Championships in Meribel, France.
The four-time Olympian will give up competition after the championships, keen for a rest after battling back from a broken leg she sustained last summer.
Further leg trouble did not prevent her landing the Super G title in a time of 1min 23.91secs, well ahead of Cara Brown, who took second in 1:26.01, and third-placed Honor Clissold (1:27.91).
I would have been disappointed if I didn’t win
“I just wanted to come through the finish line with a smile on my face,” she said.
“The last few weeks have been tough with my leg, I am not in my best shape of the year, but I would have been disappointed if I didn’t win. It was really, really great to win and on what was a tough course.”
Alcott’s fiance Dougie Crawford won the men’s Super G national title in 1:19.20.
