Winter Olympics LIVE: Team GB win medal as Donald Trump makes new plan
Live updates from the Winter Olympics with Team GB seeking more medals as officials hope for weather improvements for outside events.
The final day of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics has arrived with yet more medals up for grabs in the coming hours.
It was heartbreak in the curling as Team GB's men came away with silver after a tense match against Canada on Saturday evening. There is still a chance for gold today, however.
Zoe Atkin is in action this morning after the Freestyle skiing Women's halfpipe was postponed yesterday
US President Donald Trump was expected to be in attendance for the final of the ice hockey later today as USA take on Canada and could be present for the closing ceremony. Will he receive a better reception than JD Vance?
Or perhaps not, with his Sunday schedule, seemingly not including a trip to Italy.
To stay across all of it, keep your eyes on this page for live updates throughout the day...
KEY EVENTS
Team GB inspire a nation
Team GB have inspired a nation following their record-breaking day at the Winter Olympics.
Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale snatched gold in the mixed team snowboarding before Matt Weston and Tabby Stoecker did likewise in the mixed team skeleton.
It was the first time Britain has claimed two gold medals in the same day.
And that appears to have inspired many back home as searches around 'alpine skiing' is up 1,500% and searches for 'last minute ski holidays' have doubled.
This comes as new data from Visa, the Official Payment Technology Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, has found that seven in ten Brits (69%) say the Winter Games is inspiring them to take part in winter sports.
Bronze for Atkin
More than 93 required for silver, more than 94.75 for gold. Atkin gets through a tidy run and now we wait.
It's 92.5, so close but so far.
Bronze isn't bad though, is it? Nice work

Task gets tougher
Gu's third run goes well and improves her gold medal position score to bag a 94.75
Can Atkin pull out something special?
Into third
Atkin delivered some massive air in her third run, but it wasn't enough to beat her first run score. The Brit kicked things up a notch but she crashes hard.
Li Fanghui of China earlier nipped into second with a 91.50.

Gu lands a run
After failing on her first, Atkin's rival hits back. Not as much amplitude as the Brit perhaps but she flies into first.
94.
It's going to be a tense finale.

First run in the bag
It looked good and was described as 'solid'. Straight into first place with 90.5.
Can't complain.
Defending champ Eileen Gu in eighth currently.
Atkin plea
Zoe Atkin's sister, Izzy, is excited to see the ski star making her name. Though, Izzy is no slouch, she won Great Britain's first Olympic medal on skis with her slopestyle bronze in 2018.
"It's cool to see my sister follow in my footsteps but also create her own path and make her own name for herself," she told BBC
"She'll be feeling really nervous but also really excited. She's been skiing so well this week and this whole season and I think she'll carry that momentum into the season. She knows how to do it but she just has to do it now.
"We just want her to land!"

Underway
Bobsleigh and Cross-Country Skiing 50km are in action, and the freestyle skiers are warming up.

Curling reaction
Team GB's skipper Bruce Mouat was left devastated after falling at the final hurdle.
"I'm just a bit shocked,"he said. "We felt like we were the better team there.
"Regardless of the result, the amount of people that have come out to support us and messaged us from back home.
"They boys and I love our sport. We want people to come and join our sport. If we can take anything away from this week, as well as the silver medal, it's being able to inspire people."

Closing ceremony
At 19:00 the Closing Ceremony of the XXV Winter Olympic Games takes place in the iconic Arena, a Roman amphitheatre in Verona.
Milan Cortina will say farewell and perform the traditional handover to the team from the French Alps, where the 2030 Games will be held.

Coming up Trumps?
Donald Trump will not attend the men’s hockey gold-medal final in Milan despite earlier preparations.
Updated information from Washington confirmed that the president will remain at the White House on Sunday, where two scheduled meetings at 8:00 am and 12:00 pm conflict with the game at the Santa Giulia Arena.
Security planning had already begun and Air Force One was said to be ready for short-notice travel if the Americans reached the final. Instead, officials indicated domestic priorities prevented the visit, including an escalating legal dispute tied to tariff policy that required the president’s presence in Washington.
Communication relayed through the U.S. consulate in Milan confirmed the withdrawal while noting contingency arrangements technically remain in place in case of any sudden change, according to Corriere Della Sera.

Good morning!
Back for a final time, and gold could be on the menu!
Zoe Atkin and the halfpipe final are due to get underway around 9.30 this morning.
Men's four-man bobsleigh (09:00-12:20); Women's cross-country 50km mass start (09:00-12:35); Women's curling (12:05-13:35); Men's ice hockey (12:40-15:40) also remain.

10. Japan - 5 gold, 7 silver, 12 bronze
Team GB sit in 15th position, having won three golds and one silver.
More medal hopes tomorrow
After the heartbreak of the curling final, Team GB have another medal hope tomorrow as Zoe Atkin goes in the freeski halfpipe final.
The 23-year-old qualified for the final in first place, ahead of China's Eileen Gu. Atkin is the current World champion after claiming gold in Engadin last year.
The final was due to take place tonight, but heavy snow in Livigno has seen it rescheduled for 9:45am tomorrow morning.

Tears after the final
Team GB suffered heartbreak in the men's curling final against Canada, falling to a 6-9 defeat. Speaking to the BBC afterwards, both Bruce Mouat and Grant Hardie broke down in tears. Interviewer JJ Chalmers moved between the two, giving each of them a moment to compose themselves.
Captain Bruce Mouat said: "I’m a bit in shock. We felt like we were the better team there. I don’t know what to say. Regardless of the result, the incredible thing we will take away is the amount of people who have come out to support us and have messaged us from back home.
Heartbreak for Team GB
The last end didn't go as planned, with Canada coming out as 9-6 winners.
It's heartbreak again for Team GB, who will have to settle for silver for the second time in three games.
Into the closing stages
That was a frustrating end for GB, where shots weren't quite hitting their target.
Canada were close to scoring four, but their stone rolled out, meaning that they had the three.
It means that GB have to score two in the final end.
Two ends to go
Team GB took one from the eighth end to take a 6-5 lead into the ninth end.
It will be interesting to see how Canada approaches this end, and if they attempt to blank it.
Canada draw it level
Brad Jacobs has drawn it level for Canada but it's very much Team GB's advantage.
GB 5-5 Canada (after seven ends)
Jackie Lockhart reaction
Four-time Olympic curler Jackie Lockhart said on BBC Two: "That was a great, great shot [to finish the end], the Team GB fans were loving that.
"He had to pass that guard by hardly anything, look how cool it was. The team themselves are pumped, which is great."
GB go ahead!
What a shot from Team GB to reclaim the lead!
A clutch moment from captain Bruce Mouat as things really start to heat up.
GB 5-4 Canada (seventh end).
At the halfway point
Canada attempted to blank the end, but ended up making a mistake with the final stone to score a point.
While it might seem a bad thing for GB, in the world of curling it's actually good news.
While Canada leads 4-3, it means that GB retain the crucial hammer in the 6th, 8th and 10th ends.

GB draw level
That's the fourth end over, and GB have taken one from the end, which has seen a couple of little mistakes made.
After four ends, the score is tied at 3-3.
End three score
The third end has seen Canada take two. The score is now 3-2 to Canada.
It feels like the lead will change hands several more times before the end of this match.
GB now have the hammer going into the fourth.
Team GB advantage
Team GB have taken an advantage after two ends.
They controlled the second end and took a score of two, which has given them a 2-1 lead over their opponents.
After End one
End one is over, and Team GB have limited Canada to just one point.
GB now get the Hammer for the second end as they look to get a score on the board.
GB going for gold
All of the buildup is complete, and the teams are out.
It's who comes out on top over 10 ends.
Canada have the hammer in the first end and Team GB have just delivered the first stone.
Here we go
It's almost time for the men's curling gold medal match between Team GB and Canada.
There has already been a lot of drama around the Canadian team, with Marc Kennedy involved in a heated exchange with Swedish player Oskar Eriksson.
Kennedy was accused of double touching the stones after releasing the handle, with images appearing to show him touching them with his finger.

Women's mass start speed skating medals
Earlier, the medals were decided in the women's mass start speed skating event, with Jorrit Bergsma of the Netherlands taking gold. Viktor Hald Thorup of Denmark took silver, with Andrea Giovanni taking bronze.
Medals
1. Jorrit Bergsma (NED) 68 sprint points
2. Viktor Hald Thorup (DEN) 47 sprint points
3. Andrea Giovanni (ITA) 21 sprint points

Curling history
We are not too far away from the gold medal match in the men's curling event, where Team GB are looking to make history.
Bruce Mouat, Grant Hardie, Hammy McMillan Jr, and Bobby Lammie are looking to become the first GB men's team to win the event since the inaugural Winter Olympics back in 1924.

Another freeski halfpipe announcement
Not long after the latest announcement, it has now been confirmed that the women's freeski halfpipe, featuring Zoe Atkin has been postponed until tomorrow (Sunday).
The event was originally scheduled to take place at 6:30pm tonight, before being pushed back to 8pm.
But the snow in Livigno means that it has now been pushed back by a day.
Canada secure curling bronze
Canada have secured the bronze medal in the Women's Curling team event, with a 10-7 win over North American rivals USA.
After an exchange of one each over the first five ends, two scores of three in both the sixth and eighth end for Canada proved decisive. Canada secured the win with a score of two in the 10th and final end.

Women's halfpipe final delayed
Heavy snow in Livigno has raised doubts about whether the women's freeski halfpipe event will go ahead. The event, featuring Team GB's Zoe Atkin, was due to start at 6:30pm.
In a further update, it has been confirmed that the event will start at 8pm, 90 minutes later than the first scheduled time.
What lies ahead
There is still plenty of action today, with GB guaranteed at least one medal, although there is hope for more:
6pm - Two-woman bobsleigh (GB's Adele Nicoll/Ashleigh Nelson)
6:05pm - Men's curling gold medal match (GB Vs Canada)
6:30pm - Women's freeski halfpipe final (GB's Zoe Atkin)
Team GB on Bobsleigh crash
Team GB sit seventh after two heats in the four-man bobsleigh event, with all eyes on the remaining two heats tomorrow for their chance to win a medal.
They had to sit on the sidelines to see some worrying crashes for both Austria and France, however. Crewman Greg Cackett was asked by the BBC about the dangers of the event following those crashes and said: "It is a dangerous sport.
"Thankfully, the boys came back to the changing room so his crew are OK. Jakob [pilot Mandlbauer] is in hospital but he can move, he seems to be alright.
"It's a serious thing. We're here to compete but we're all mates and we never want to see people go down or their Olympic experience ending that way. Hopefully they're all OK and can go again tomorrow."

Kamila Sellier issues injury update after blade to the face
Polish speed skater Kamila Sellier has issued an update from a hospital bed after taking a blade to the face in the women's 1500m at the Winter Olympics on Friday evening.
She was caught by a stray blade upon falling to the ice alongside Ariana Fontana of Italy and USA's Kristen Santos-Griswold.
Medics quickly rushed to the scene where she was treated for a deep cut to the face and Sellier has now provided an update.
She wrote on Instagram: "I know that one day i’ll look at this picture and remember that i’m stronger than i ever believed. thank you for all your words of support, just wanted to let you know that i’m doing quite okay."

Ski Mountaineering medal
France's Emily Harrop and Thibault Anselmet have landed gold in the Ski Mountaineering mixed relay. They overcame Switzerland's pairing of Marianne Fatton and Jon Kistler, who took silver, and Spain's Ana Alonso and Oriol Cardona, who landed Bronze.

Musgrave with it all to do
While Great Britain wait for their run in heat two, the 50km cross-country is close to completion.
Multiple gold medal-winner Klaebo is in the lead and looking for another to his collection, he makes up the Norwegian trio.
Musgrave is up to sixth and needs a big push in the final 5km to get himself among the medal.

Worrying scenes in the four-man Bobsleigh
We're back underway on the course at Milano Cortina.
Worrying scenes for the Austrian four-man team after ending up upside down following a high-speed crash.
Three of the team appeared to come away relatively unscathed but it has been reported that driver Jakob Mandlbauer was left worse off from the incident - requiring medical attention before being stretchered off.

As a result of not completing the run, Austria have been disqualified.

Musgrave chasing down Norwegian trio
Approaching an hour in the 50km cross-country.
Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget is the current leader in the Norwegian top three.
From a Team GB perspective, Andrew Musgrave is in seventh as he chases down the leading pack with Joe Davies in 14th.
The Bobsleigh second heat is also about to get underway, in reverse order this time, meaning Team GB will be one of the final teams to step foot on the ice.

Another medal opportunity for Team GB
We are minutes away from the scheduled beginning of the Men's 50km mass start cross-country skiing.
Andrew Musgrave is bib nine.
He came 12th in this race four years ago.
Joe Davies is the other Team GB athlete involved.
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is the reigning cross-country World Cup champion and, you would think, hot favourite to claim gold here.

Strong start from Brad Hall and Team GB in the Bobsleigh
A third Winter Olympics for Brad Hall.
They finished fourth here in November.

All smiles from the Team GB team, their next heat is around an hour away.
Austria are up next and it is a disasterous start.

Gus Kenworthy fell in his final run of the men's freeski halfpipe final after being too heavy on the tail of his skis. Paralympics boycott grows
Lithuania has become the latest nation to announce plans to boycott the Winter Paralympics opening ceremony, joining a growing protest over Russia's participation in the competition. Russian athletes will be permitted to compete under their national flag at the event, marking the first time this has been allowed since the country's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Their suspension was implemented in 2023, separate from the ban imposed ahead of the 2020 Games due to doping violations. Despite the ban, selected Russian and Belarusian athletes, who were also impacted by the suspension, have been granted permission to compete as neutral athletes under the Olympic flag - but now the national flags will return. Lithuania, along with Poland and Ukraine, have made their position clear on the issue.

Catastrophic incident avoided
A catastrophic injury was narrowly avoided at the Winter Olympics when Nordic combined skier Ben Loomis was struck by track equipment whilst accelerating down a 370-foot ski jump ramp.
Loomis competed in the men's Olympic Nordic combined team sprint at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium, where officials deployed leaf blowers to clear snow from the in-run hill to ensure consistent speeds and a safe surface. As the 27-year-old pushed off from the start bar and built up speed, one of the blowers was not removed in time. It struck the Team USA star on the shoulder as he descended almost immediately into his run.

He secured qualification in ninth place earlier today.
Speaking to BBC Sport, he said:
"I feel good, I'm happy to have put one down, I played it safe in my first run but put down a run that I knew I'd be able to land cleanly, not a super technical run but I felt it was enough to get me through today.
"I have more in the locker.
"Second run I tried to practice a little with the two 14s, but I definitely want to put those together along with some other stuff and keep the amplitude up."
The final takes place at 6:30pm tonight.

Lindsey Vonn retirement verdict
Former skiier Chemmy Alcott has hinted that Lindsey Vonn prioritise her health and retire.
The American suffered a broken leg in a bad crash at the Winter Olympics earlier this month, a moment that left Alcott emotional.
She has now provided a clear verdict on Vonn's future in the sport.
She told BBC: "This isn't about a comeback to skiing right now, this is a comeback to health.
"This leg break, it wasn't a leg break. She absolutely shattered that leg. If you've seen photos of her external cage, there are about eight structures there going into the leg. I am so grateful that she's back home.
"Hopefully that will start this long, long healing process. I absolutely feel for her because on the day that she crashed, her beloved dog also passed away. So she's going through it all right now."

Making its Winter Olympics debut, competitors ski at a variety of gradiants but it is the changeover in equipment that seemingly decides who wins.

Day 14 schedule
After some dramatic curling action yesterday, there are more matches from Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium today.
The men's bronze medal match and women's semi-finals are both set to get underway this afternoon.
At roughly 3:30pm, Team GB's Ellia Smeding will be competing in the 1500m speed skating.
The evening meanwhile, is highlighted by the bobsleigh and freestyle skiing.
Broadcaster resigns after major complaints
Another major talking point from the Winter Olympics involves the resignation of a broadcaster...
Paolo Petrecca, who was the chief of an Italian broadcasting company, has been forced to step down due to his major errors and offensive commentary of the opening ceremony.
Petrecca was the head of Rai Sport, Italy's national broadcaster's sports channel, the nation's equivalent to the BBC.
He had stepped in after the initial commentator was removed from their duties. He made a catalogue of mistakes with the first of those welcoming viewers to Rome's Stadio Olimpico, rather than San Siro in Milan.

Update on injured star after horror fall
A number of contrasting updates have been provided on Canadian skier Cassie Sharpe.
The qualifiers for the freeski event were halted for roughly 10 minutes following Sharpe's bad fall, which saw her lose consciousness.
It has since been confirmed that she is in a stable condition but is a doubt to feature in the freeski final having finished third despite her accident.
