World Snooker Championship results: Judd Trump in action after Ronnie O'Sullivan struggles
Express Sport brings you the latest from the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship after a dramatic Monday night at the Crucible.
Ronnie O'Sullivan takes on Stuart Bingham today as he begins his bid ro reach the semi-finals of the World Snooker Championship, but it's another great Crucible champion dominating the headlines today. In a night that will linger long in the memory, John Higgins beat Mark Allen 13-12 on Monday after a 71 clearance in the final frame settled a remarkable contest. The Scot was 62-0 down in the decider before a missed red gave him an opportunity, and he rolled back the years to set-up a last-eight match with Kyren Wilson. Bingham himself contested an epic, winning the last two frames to beat Jack Lisowski 13-11 in a game that lasted more than eight hours.
Earlier in the day, the 'Rocket' had been in fine form to beat Ryan Day 13-7. He remains on track to win a record-breaking eighth world title in Sheffield, which would take him one clear of Stephen Hendry.
Fans will have to wait until this afternoon to watch O'Sullivan or Higgins in action though. First up, David Gilbert looks to continue his resurgence against Stephen Maguire, while Judd Trump plays the one remaining Welshman, Jak Jones.
Like the last-16 matches, the games will be best-of-25 frame affairs. And fans at the famous theatre can be braced for another nail-biting couple of days.
We could be in for another spectacular day at the Crucible if Monday’s action is anything to go by. So strap in and follow all the action courtesy of our live blog below...

A 121 break of his own. Top stuff.
Wilson 4-1 Higgins

O'Sullivan 1-3 Bingham
Both players again miss chances, before Bingham takes control with a 79 break and the 2015 champion leads 3-1 at the mid-session interval.
By the way, remember who he surprisingly beat in the quarter final that year? Yep.....
Wilson 3-0 Higgins
Wilson looks comfortable here, a break of 93 opening up a three-game gap.
O'Sullivan 1-2 Bingham
Boy, Bingham may live to regret that.
On a break of 55 and seemingly cruising, a simple red goes begging and O'Sullivan takes advantage.
He's right back in this.
Wilson 2-0 Higgins
Is the hangover of last night's heroics affecting Higgins.
He gives Wilson a chance, and the Englishman makes a break of 95 to capitalise. He missed a simple blue for a century break, but will not care.
O'Sullivan 0-2 Bingham
Well we didn't expect this start.
Bingham makes a 75 break to double the lead, but only after three glaring errors from the man who has beaten him 18 times in 22 matches.
"Three incredible errors - usually you get three of those in a tournament from Ronnie," says Stephen Hendry on BBC commentary.
O'Sullivan 0-1 Bingham
Well he might be a rank outsider for this match, but Stuart Bingham has the very early lead over Ronnie O'Sullivan after a break of 55.
And another legend also trails as Kyren Wilson goes 1-0 up on John Higgins with knocks of 38 and 70.
O'Sullivan and Higgins set to get underway
So can Ronnie O'Sullivan continue his march towards destiny? Can John Higgins back-up his performance last night?
We will soon find out. 'The Rocket' against Stuart Bingham, and John Higgins v Kyren Wilson, to start at 2.30pm.
O'Sullivan odds on for record-breaking win
The punters clearly don’t see Ronnie O'Sullivan having many problems against Stuart Bingham over the next two days. According to BetMGM, he’s 1/9 to make the final four, with Bingham 5/1 to pull off a shock win.
‘The Rocket’ is off course, favourite for the overall win as well. Stephen Maguire started the day at 16/1 to win a maiden world crown - odds we suspect could be about to lengthen.
Tournament winner: Ronnie O’Sullivan 5/4; Judd Trump 9/4; John Higgins 7/1; Kyren Wilson 7/1; Stephen Maguire 16/1; David Gilbert 18/1; Stuart Bingham 28/1; Jak Jones 80/1.
First session interval: Trump 4-4 Jones
The world No.2 will be relieved to head to the backstage area level at the interval.
The final frame goes to the wire before Trump pulls off a double on the black. A scrappy session from him, but a sublime finish.
Gilbert 7-1 Maguire
The rout continues as Maguire misses a simple black and again pays the price.
Gilbert remains on track to equal his best ever display at the Crucible - having reached the semi-finals in 2019.
Trump 3-4 Jones
I tell you what, Judd Trump is facing a real test here.
A break of 74 from Jak Jones and the Welshman leads again.
Gilbert 6-1 Maguire
Oh what a chance for Maguire....
A 60-point lead goes to waste and Gilbert produced a superb clearance to move into a five-frame lead.
Trump 3-3 Jones
Another messy frame goes the way of Trump. After a mini-crisis, he's back level here.
As you were....
Gilbert 5-1 Maguire
Another century for David Gilbert and another frame to go with it.
To think, he was talking about quitting the sport 12 months ago.
Trump 2-3 Jones
Trump pulls a frame back, but he'll be relieved because that was messy.
Jones pays the price for a series of missed chances.
Gilbert 4-1 Maguire
Finally, Maguire is off the mark with a half-century break. He needed that.
Maguire makes 'come-and-get-me' plea
Stephen Maguire is in trouble at the moment, having before the match seemingly declared his interest in joining the proposed rebel snooker tour in the Far East.
"My ears are always open. I've not been approached but my door's always open,” Maguire told reporters. "I'm only hearing it from other players but if somebody else is interested to come in then it's good. The numbers being thrown about are interesting."
Trump 1-3 Jones
Too early to talk about an upset?
Jones with a break of 94 and he's in chrage at the mid-session interval.
Gilbert 4-0 maguire
A dream start for Gilbert. A break of 83 to make it 3-0 and he backs that up with a century in the fourth for a clean sweep this morning!
Trump 1-2 Jones
It's the Welshman now in front, he's settled well after Trump blew him away in the first frame with that century break.
Elsewhere, David Gilbert is now 2-0 up on Stephen Maguire.
Trump 1-1 Jones
It looks for all the world Trump is going 2-0 up, but after a break of 58 makes a poor error.
Jones responds with a nerveless 69 clearance to hit back!

David Gilbert and Stephen Maguire go long in the opening frame, lasting more than 40 minutes. Gilbrt eventually takes it.
Trump 1-0 Jones
First blood to Judd Trump as the 2019 champion takes the opening frame against Jak Jones.
A brilliant break of 110 to get it done. Some start.
Higgins emotional after Allen win
Veteran John Higgins held back tears after his wpic 13-12 win over Mark Allen last night.
“Yeah I’m a bit emotional," he told Eurosport. "Mark’s a total gentleman and said some nice words. I went into the dressing room and had a little bubble myself. I knew it was a special clearance. It’s only the last 16, it’s only the quarter-finals, I’ve got to get myself a good night’s sleep and get myself ready for Kyren."
Good morning!
So have we all recovered from last night?
Better had of, because here's the line-up for the quarter-finals today.
