Snooker scores: Ronnie O’Sullivan wins after angry moment at World Open
Snooker's World Open takes place in China this week with Ronnie O'Sullivan among the players in action. Express Sport provides the latest scores and results.
Ronnie O'Sullivan returns to action today at the World Open in China. The ranking tournament, held in Yushan in the Jiangxi Province, is taking place for the first time since 2019 and is one of few that the Rocket has never won before.
World Snooker Tour chairman Steve Dawson said: "Having been unable to stage tournaments in mainland China between 2019 and 2023 due to travel restrictions, we have made an emphatic return this season.
"To have four major Chinese events in our first full season back in the Far East underlines the huge appetite for snooker in China and the fact that we have built lasting relationships with our key partners. Snooker’s future in China is bright and this is just the beginning.
"The World Open is a fantastic tournament in an outstanding location which has particular significance for snooker as it is the home of Star Xing Pai and the world's first Billiard Sports City."
The winner can pocket £170,000 and Trump, reigning world champion Luca Brecel and Mark Selby are among the formidable opponents standing in O'Sullivan's way.

O'Sullivan talks up eighth world title chances
Ronnie O’Sullivan has also spoken about how he is hoping to win a record eighth world title when he competes in Sheffield next month.
‘The Rocket’ was in fine form when beating Michael White to reach the last 32 of the World Open, and he has talked up his chances of landing the Crucible.
Speaking after his victory over White, O’Sullivan said: “I’d love to try to win the Crucible. It is a hard tournament and 17 days is a long time. A lot can happen there. I’d love to win that another time to make it eight.
"There are so many good players around, so you have to get a little bit of luck and play some good snooker at the right times. I will be going there and trying my best.”
O'Sullivan comments on Chinese crowd
Ronnie O’Sullivan has doubled down on his comments about playing abroad, having previously revealed that he would rather play elsewhere than in the UK.
Speaking after his victory over Michael White, ‘The Rocket’ said: Yeah I love the fans in China. I love the fans all over the world but especially when you come to China, they love snooker.
"Ding Junhui's really helped make snooker popular in China, which has been great for snooker and obviously great for me.
“So I want to say a big hello to the fans and thank them for the support and hopefully I can keep playing for as long as I can and keep trying to win some tournaments for you as well."

Page delighted with Higgins win
Jackson Page is elated with his win over John Higgins and hopes it can improve his self-belief when he comes up against more top players in the future.
The 22-year-old Welshman had only won eight of 21 matches this season before beating Scotland's Higgins earlier.
But he hopes this will act as a springboard in his season...
