NBA All-Star 2020: The five biggest names to miss out on All-Star appearance in Chicago
The NBA All Star weekend takes place in little over a month with the fan votes still taking place.
NBA: Kevin Durant is named MVP at the All Star Game
The 2020 NBA All Star weekend will already be slightly diminished with the likes of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant all missing through injury. That has opened the door in each conference for a few players to potential earn their first All Star pick, but Express Sport takes a look at five players who may just miss out.
Kyrie Irving
A perennial All Star who's handles alone are made for the world stage. A popular player among fans and he's second among guards in the current returns from voting, but players and the media may vote the other way. He has only played 11 games this season and has arguably been outshone by Spencer Dinwiddie so far this campaign.
Brandon Ingram
Tough for Ingram, who has also proven popular in the fan vote this season. The 22-year-old is averaging 25.4 points per game but he's in the Western Conference where there are still a number of front court players ahead of him. Injuries could help him out though.

Zach LaVine
The Chicago Bulls still have an outside chance of making the playoffs this year and that is largely down to Zach LaVine enjoying a career-best season so far. This may come down to the media and player votes, but there are still guards who will likely be picked ahead of him.
Gordon Hayward
It's good to see Gordon Hayward beginning to show signs of why he won his first All Star selection in 2017 before his brutal injury, but he still has a way to go. There are other Celtics players more deserving.

D'Angelo Russell
It's hard to shine for a team which only last season had Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant pulling the strings only for all three to either leave or be injured. Russell has looked good and is on course for a career-high season but, like Ingram, there are players likely to be selected ahead of him due to the Warriors' low position.
