Team GB’s rising star recorded a win by unanimous decision over Abdelhafid Benchabla in the quarter-finals of the light-heavyweight competition.
Buatsi had already seen off competion from two seeded competition with stoppages.
But the 23-year-old had to go the distance against the Algerian, despite Benchabla being given two standing counts.

Speaking after the bout, Buatsi said: "I came to win gold, I knew I had to beat the top men, so that is what I'm doing.
"The spirit in the team is brilliant, I just can't wait to get back in the there. This has been amazing."
