That’s the view of Giants quarterback Eli Manning who is concerned for his team-mate.
Beckham is reported to be after a new long-term contract and is attending the Giants OTAs in an apparent indication to show he means business.
The wide receiver did not attend any of the 10 OTAs last year, despite being healthy.
He is battling back from an ankle injury sustained during last season but Manning knows he needs to solve any contract issues if the Giants are to see his best performances.
"Unfortunately, it can," Manning said of contract negotiations weighing on Beckham.
"Even though it wasn't really something that was on my mind, you had to keep answering questions about it.
“It's not something I discussed with people, but for whatever reason it becomes an issue.
“I didn't harp on it. I didn't worry about it. But the fact that it's in the papers or you have to answer about it, it can become a hassle."
Beckham holds a number of NFL records, including the fastest to reach 250 career receptions.
It took him just 38 games while he went 4,000 career receiving yards in just 42 matches.
He was the only rookie in NFL history to have 10+ receptions in consecutive games having been drafted in 2014.
Beckham is expected to be fully fit and ready for the 2018 season.
