Jason Kelce's family reveal why his children have not been to watch Travis play in NFL
Travis Kelce has been one of the star attractions of the NFL for over a decade, but his three nieces have been unable to attend a game.
Despite their uncle being one of the biggest stars in the NFL and considered the greatest tight end in the game's history, Jason Kelce's children have yet to watch Travis Kelce play in person at Arrowhead Stadium, and their mum has a simple reason why. As he begins his 13th NFL season, it's uncertain how many more chances he will get before Travis decides to retire for good.
Kylie Kelce explained that timing has been the main obstacle, outside of previously admitting that she didn't trust Jason to watch their kids alone. Over the past five years, the Kelce family has been so busy that they have yet to find the time to attend even one of the 105 combined regular-season and postseason games featuring the Chiefs.
"The girls have not yet been to an Uncle Trav game just because a lot of opportunities that we've had to go and support Trav have been, even just last year, a lot of Monday nights," she said to People. I think two different Monday Night Football opportunities.
""But as anyone knows, an 8:00pm start is not conducive to a 5, 4, and 2 year old," she continued. "We're not tagging in on that, so maybe we'll get out there for a nice 1:00 pm Sunday with the girls."
Kansas City had two Monday games on the schedule last season and won both games, including a Week 5 victory against the New Orleans Saints.
An overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9 saw both Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes cheering on from the stands, despite a fourth-quarter leg injury scare for Patrick Mahomes.
Jason and Kylie's eldest, Wyatt, was born in 2019, two seasons after Jason and the Philadelphia Eagles clinched the Super Bowl.
At that point, Kelce was in his sixth NFL season, having started all 16 games and being hailed as the most crucial player in a team that boasted Fletcher Cox, Malcolm Jenkins, Alshon Jeffery, and Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz, according to Football Reference.
Their second child, Elliotte, arrived on 4 March 2021, half a year before the Eagles' season opener and the first campaign under head coach Nick Sirianni, who would later topple Travis' Chiefs in a resounding defeat during Super Bowl LIX.
Bennett was born on 23 February 2023, just a year before Jason announced his retirement.
The newest member of the family, Finnley 'Finn' Anne Kelce, made her grand debut on 30 March in a year where the Chiefs are set to dazzle in two nationally televised Monday night games on ABC and ESPN.
In Week 5, they'll go head-to-head with the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium.
During Week 8, they'll take on the Washington Commanders at Arrowhead.
The Chiefs will also face off against the Kelce family's hometown Eagles in Philadelphia in a Super Bowl rematch on 14 September.
