Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes will be the face of the NFL for the next DECADE - Schrager
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been tipped to be the face of the NFL for the next decade.
Mahomes was given the Most Valuable Player award after putting in fantastic performances in his first season as the Chiefs starting quarterback last year.
And the 23-year-old has been tipped by Good Morning Football co-host Peter Schrager as the player who will be the face of the league for the next ten years.
Last season Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and had an average passer rating of 113.8.
Mahomes led the Chiefs to the AFC West division title as they went 12-4 in the regular season.
I think Mahomes is going to be even better and I think this is the year and this is the face of the NFL for the next decade
The Chiefs went on to beat the Colts 31-13 in the divisional round of the playoffs but came up short against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the conference championship game, as they lost 37-31 in overtime.
When the question of ‘who be the face of the NFL for the next decade’ was posed on the NFL Network’s TV show GMFB, Schrager backed Mahomes.
“I am going with the current MVP, I am going with the guy whose best days are yet to come, Patrick Mahomes,” Schrager said.
“I’ve seen him literally do a different cameo in every single opportunity he can to be on TV.
“Get Mahomes, the Madden cover boy, whatever it is, bring him over there and get him to NFL films.
“Because I think this is going to be the face, last year with his MVP season, 50 touchdowns.”
The Chiefs could be without wide receiver Tyreek Hill next season - as the Associated Press reported that Hill had been suspended from all Chiefs team-related activities after audio surfaced in which he discussed abusing his son.
Last season Hill had 87 receptions for 1,479 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

But despite the uncertainty over Hill’s future with the Chiefs, Schrager is still backing Mahomes to improve on last season.
“This year, a little bit of adversity, is Tyreek Hill going to be there, we’ve lost guys on defence,” Schrager added.
“But I think Mahomes is going to be even better and I think this is the year and this is the face of the NFL for the next decade.”
