NFL Draft 2019: What Cardinals QB Kyler Murray said after being taken as No 1 overall pick
KYLER MURRAY has been taken by the Arizona Cardinals with their No 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The 21-year-old quarterback from Texas admitted it was a “dream come true” when the Cardinals made the decision.
Much has been made about the height of Murray but the former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback insists he is “I am ready to go”.
“I think all this speaks for itself,” Murray said on the NFL Network.
“I am blessed to be here.
I can’t put it into words, this is a dream come true
“I can’t put it into words, this is a dream come true.”
The decision by the Cardinals to take Murray puts the future of Josh Rosen, the organisation's other quarterback, up in the air.
Arizona took Rosen with their 10th overall pick in last year’s draft, but he struggled in his rookie year, as he led the team to a 3-13 record and bottom of the NFC West - which is why they had the first pick in the draft.
Last season Rosen had 2,278 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a passer rating of 66.7.
However, the Cardinals struggled to protect Rosen, as he was sacked 45 times for 320 yards.
Murray was asked about the situation with Rosen following Arizona’s pick.
“I am ready to go, no matter what the situation is,” Murray, said.
“I am a winner, I love the game.
“One thing they are going to get out of me, is I am going to go hard every time I take the field.”

Murray also praised those around him who had helped him reach this point in his football career.
“As a kid growing up, I always dreamed about being the No 1 overall pick in the draft,” he said.
“And to be here is just a testament to god.
“And all the hard work, everybody has pushed me to get to this point.”
