Grand National tips: Who are you backing to win at Aintree?
‘YA KNOW…
There’s a market mover folks.
Eight-year-old hope I Just Know is attracting attention on the day of the National, being cut by 14 different bookies over the last hour.
With plenty of the recent trends pointing in his favour, the horse has been a desirable selection at 22/1 first thing this morning.
A handful of operators have gone as short as 14/1 for the horse, putting him right up there with the likes of Tiger Roll and Blaklion.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “The gamble of today is on I Just Know, and if this improving eight-year-old can get out in front and keep his jumping fluent, he’s a big danger to the rest of the field.
“He has form on soft ground and over 3 miles, winning the North Yorkshire Grand National at Catterick at the start of the year and Danny Cook will fancy his chances on the back of Sue Smith’s charge.”
SWEEPSTAKE
I’m sure you’ve all entered an office sweepstake this week and been handed a less than desirable pick.
Fear not though, anything can happen in this race.
I drew Final Nudge, who’s come into 33s from 50s, and our resident tipster Patrick Weaver has given it three stars.
Here’s what Patrick thinks: “Handy age and was third in the Welsh one in January - 15 lengths behind Raz De Maree. Disappointed last time and without a win for 12 months. Slight stamina doubt. 3 stars”

MAKE ROOM…
Another one enters the winners enclosure with Diego Du Charmil causing a minor upset in the Doom Bar Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree.
The two-mile Grade One looked relatively uncompetitive on paper, with dual Grade One-winning hurdler Petit Mouchoir setting a high standard.
However, the warning signs were there for his supporters before the off, as Henry de Bromhead's challenger got worked up in the parade ring and was free on the way to the start and that wasted energy may have proved crucial in the result.
The 4-5 favourite moved to the front early in the home straight, but the Paul Nicholls-trained Diego Du Charmil (5-1) covered the move under 19-year-old Harry Cobden and kicked two and a half lengths clear of the market leader at the line.
AFTERNOON
Things are warming up very nicely indeed at Aintree, and I’m not talking about the weather.
Cheltenham Festival runner-up Black Op went one better with a determined display in the Betway Mersey Novices' Hurdle.
Black Op travelled powerfully throughout the two-and-a-half-mile contest in the hands of Noel Fehily and hit the front early in the home straight.
That’s a very popular winner indeed, and will boost the coffers ahead of the finale today.
I’ll let you know my picks and who I drew in the sweepstake! Standby…
