Remounting is banned
TONY McCOY'S famous victory on Family Business when he remounted to win a three-mile chase at Southwell in 2002 won't be repeated.
Yesterday the BHA decided to ban jockeys from remounting after an outcry from animal rights groups. McCoy, decided to remount after falling early on, and was rewarded with victory when one by one his seven rivals fell by the wayside.
Some lucky exchange punters even managed to back the champion at 999-1.
It was, in fact, the second time in successive races that McCoy had remounted the same horse.
