Odds are out of this world for Mars
MARS was at the centre of the betting universe yesterday.
A record 17 horses were added to the Epsom Derby at the second entry stage yesterday
Ladbrokes, traditionally well informed about the plans of Aidan O’Brien’s Ballydoyle team, have shortened up Mars from 8-1 to 6-1 favourite ahead of the Investec Derby.
He now joins his stablemate Kingsbarns – the long-time Derby favourite – and Telescope at the head of the ante-post market for the June 1 Classic.
Also yesterday, a record 17 horses were added to the Epsom Derby at the second entry stage – at a cost of £8,000 each.
They include last season’s champion two-year-old Dawn Approach as well as Frankel’s half-brother Morpheus.
