At Fishers Cross storms to Novices Hurdle victory at Cheltenham
THE Cheltenham bookies took a bashing as well-fancied At Fishers Cross stormed to victory in the Novices Hurdle.
With champion jockey AP McCoy on board, 11-8 At Fishers Cross overcame the challenge of African Gold, who came home second, to the delight of the favourite backers.
McCoy said: "It was nice. With all that happened yesterday, it does not seem right to celebrate. It is very difficult to enjoy today after JT McNamara's injury.
"He is like a family member and it is very sad. JT McNamara's family are all in our thoughts. I am delighted to be here but it is difficult when our friend needs our prayers.
Inish Island, ridden by Ruby Walsh, finished third and O'Faolains Boy was fourth home.
