Cheltenham 2013: Simonsig takes the Arkle Trophy
SIMONSIG had to work hard to hard to claim victory in the Arkle Trophy race at Cheltenham.
Every last drop of sweat and toil out of Simonsig, but he did not enough to hold on.
Overturn (7/2) was in his blindspot, but he faded to finish fourth.
Simonsig owner Ronnie Bartlett told BBC Radio 5 live: "I'm very happy. He's fantastic - it's a pleasure to have him. At the top of the hill he made a mistake but he got away with it thankfully."
That's why we said whatever he was doing this this week it would be two miles. He's a real two-miler
Baily Green (33/1) finished second and His Excellency (80/1) came third.
Winning trainer Nicky Henderson told BBC Radio 5 live:
"He's very speedy as you can see.
