Twiston shout for Imperial Commander at Cheltenham
NIGEL TWISTON-DAVIES is confident that Imperial Commander can go really well in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Speaking at his base in the Cotswolds yesterday – two weeks ahead of the Festival – the trainer said of his 2010 Gold Cup hero: “To be honest he is as good as I’ve ever had him.
“Everything has gone well. He may have been beaten in a photo on his comeback but if you had offered me that second before the race I’d have been delighted. He was far from fully fit, as he had injured a pedal bone.
To be honest he is as good as I’ve ever had him
“None of his rivals have won a Gold Cup, except Long Run, so that has to be a big plus.”
Imperial Commander is currently a 20-1 chance for the Gold Cup with Bobs Worth the 3-1 favourite.
William Hill then bet: 9-2 Sir Des Champs, 5 Silviniaco Conti, 13-2 Long Run, 12 bar.
