Garde Champetre back at Cheltenham
CROSS COUNTRY is with us again which can only mean one thing – Garde Champetre is back in town.
The 12-year-old makes his 15th appearance at Cheltenham and his fourth successive appearance in the Glenfarclas Chase, having won in 2009 and finished second on the other two occasions.
As usual he has had a run over hurdles to blow away the cobwebs and Enda Bolger expects him to go close.
“He’s in great form,” said the trainer yesterday. “The ground is a little bit on the firm side, but he’s won on firm before. We’re looking forward to it.
“The conditions of the race suit him, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed and it’s the right race for him.”
