Horse racing tips September 8: The best bets at Catterick, Goodwood, Newcastle and more
The step up in distance will see Mumtaaz put his head in front at Goodwood this afternoon.
After two promising outings over a shorter distances, MUMTAAZ (5.45, nap) was unfortunate not to finish closer on his latest outing after a slow start when seventh behind Bullfinch at Kempton last month. With Jim Crowley, currently riding at the top his game, in the saddle this well-bred colt will be hard to catch.
Earlier on the card the popular and talented Hollie Doyle can continue her remarkable run of success with STAG HORN (4.40, treble).
He is paying the price for his impressive 10 length victory over Trumpet Man at Catterick as the handicapper bumped him up 9lb. But despite that hefty rise the three-year-old remains on a winnable mark.
At Newcastle SAMOOT (6.50, nb) will now be ready to open his account after a promising first run when third behind Creative Flair at Sandown last month.
On that occasion he was unfancied which was reflected by his odds of 33-1 and his inexperience that saw him break slowly from the stalls.
This well-bred son of Dubawi will obviously be sharper for that experience and can give his in-form trainer Michael Stoute further success.
