15:15 UPDATE: Champion Chase preview and odds
All eyes are on the Champion Chase (15:30) now, with Nico de Boinville set to ride favourite Altior.
And the jockey is ready to ride the favourite to victory - especially after his nightmare at Ascot last time out.
“Everyone went a bit overboard about him diving out to the left at Ascot last time – I don’t often get annoyed, but I did when I read and heard what some said in the aftermath of that run – but I can tell you he has been as straight as I die at home since,” he said.
“He was his usual electric self when I schooled him over five fences last Thursday, and we couldn’t be happier with him. He’s just an unbelievable horse, a star.”
15:05 UPDATE: De Boinville wins at Cheltenham
So Nico de Boinville gets a win with William Henry.
He says: “On this ground particularly you can just bide your time.”
That’s for sure! William Henry lurked at the back for almost all of that race before coming through for the win.
Wicklow Brave (28/1) was second, with Ballyandy (14/1) third. And fourth? Brio Conti.

- But Wicklow Brave is also there. A charge from William Henry. It’s a photo finish! Did William Henry win it?
- WOW! William Henry was a 33/1 outsider here. Nico de Boinville claims a stunning win there. What a win. He now looks to the Champion Chase.
14:42 UPDATE: AP McCoy furious
AP McCoy is not happy jockey Declan Lavery has been banned for his ride of Jerrysback yesterday.
“I am embarrassed by the BHA,” McCoy said on ITV. “Talk about bringing racing into disrepute.
“The horse that finished third, he got 13,000 for finishing third, two horses fell at the second last, a horse’s natural instinct is to more or less pull up.
“He did that, I never thought at any stage he did the wrong thing.
“The horse was perfectly fine this morning, the horse’s welfare is not an issue.
“My big thing is - what happens if the first and second horse had of fallen?”
Nicky Henderson has also been critical of the BHA’s decision.
"I think it's very sad they're looking at it that way. These races are part and parcel of National Hunt racing,” he said.
“When you start banning this and banning that, my worry is they might one day ban jump racing completely."
14:40 UPDATE: Nico eyes win on William Henry
William Henry is out at 33/1 to win the Handicap Hurdle.
And Nico de Boinville reckons he could provide a surprise today!
“We haven’t seen him since he was pulled up on his reappearance at Wincanton on Boxing Day, so he has plenty to prove in a race of this depth and level of competition,” he told Unibet.
“But at least he was dropped 2lb for it and we know that he has a very impressive record around here, and finished fourth in this race last year off this mark, not beaten far at all.
“He handles soft ground really well, and the break he has had since Wincanton could be a positive.
“He comes here a fresh horse and has a good record off the kind of short break that he has had.”
14:30 UPDATE: Handicap Hurdle up next
So we move on to the Handicap Hurdle, where Uradel and Brio Conti are expected to duke it out.
There are an eye-watering 26 horses running in this one. Make sure those E/W bets are sorted!
Our man Patrick Weaver has Uradel - the 7/1 favourite - to pinch it here.
Farclas are in there at 14/1 as well!
14:25 UPDATE: TOPOFTHEGAME WINS NOVICES CHASE
What a ride from jokey Harry Cobden.
“He’s done brilliant. Just to get up that hill! A beast,” a breathless Cobden says.
Topofthegame held back and held back throughout - before gunning the accelerator when it mattered.
Delta Work - the tip of many experts - came third.
NOVICES CHASE 14:10
- We're underway in the second race of the day!
- Cracking Smart leads the way with Top Ville Ben also there. Santini fourth.
- Drinks Interval heads up on the outside to lead. But there’s still 14 to jump here. Top Ville Ben is down.

14:05 UPDATE: McCoy slams BHA
AP McCoy has slammed the BHA for banning Declan Lavery - the jockey of Jerrysback yesterday.
Lavery took Jerrysbacklaver to third in the Amateur Riders Novices Chase.
But the BHA was not happy with how the jockey rode the 16/1 place.
They banned three jockeys yesterday for "continued in the race when it appeared to be contrary to the horse's welfare.”
And McCoy has laid into the authority.
We will bring you the quotes soon here!
13:45 UPDATE: Next up - Novices Chase
We’re looking ahead to the Novices Chase now at 14:10.
And former Express Sport racing editor Patrick Weaver has Topofthegame to win here.
Our racing writer Neil Randon has Delta Work, with jockey Davy Russell seeking a fourth win in this race.

12:55 UPDATE: Nico de Boinville on Altior
Nico de Boinville will ride Altior out for the Champion Chase today.
And the jockey reckons the favourite should win comfortably if everything goes to plan.
“There is never too much new to say about the good ones, and Altior is one of the best,” the jockey told Unibet.
“Usual comments apply to him then, and that is that he will win if he runs up to form, it’s as simple as that.
“Min is probably his main rival, and we know what my horse has consistently done to him when we have met in the past.
“The ground really shouldn’t be an excuse, unless it gets very bad, and I don’t have any concerns about his jumping.”
12:50 UPDATE: Will Altior be beaten?
All eyes will be on the Queen Mother Champion Chase today - and the Racing Post’s tipster Tom Segal reckons MIN will beat Altior to the line.
“Min was runner-up to Nicky Henderson’s superstar in the Supreme and second to him in this race last season,” Segal says.
“Given what he’s been up against, Min has run two top-class races at the festival and would have won both races in the majority of other years.
“It’s asking a lot to think he will ever beat Altior, but in last year’s Champion Chase Min was fractionally in front jumping the last and had looked the most likely winner turning for home that day.
“It shouldn’t be forgotten that when Min was second in the Supreme he finished in front of Buveur D’Air and Supasundae.
“He is clearly the second-best horse in the Champion Chase and will surely be Altior’s main danger again.”
12:30 UPDATE: Weather update
Another update from Cheltenham as the winds continue to bluster around the racecourse.
The Jockey Club reckon the worst of Storm Gareth WILL hold off, meaning racing should go ahead as planned.
“We’re delighted that the weather conditions have changed from the initial forecasts and the prospect of higher wind speeds and gusts have receded,” a statement read.
“We’re looking forward to a fantastic day’s racing on the old course with the feature race the £400,000 Grade 1 Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase.”
12:05 UPDATE: Early Cheltenham tip
Express Sport’s former racing editor Patrick Weaver has cast his eye over the races for this afternoon.
And he has an early tip for the 13:30 Ballymore Novices Hurdle.
Patrick is going for Champ here - the 4/1 favourite in the first race of the day.
But it’s worth noting Battleoverdoyen is dropping in price and is now 9/2.

11:33 UPDATE: Altior the tip
Altior is the big tip in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at 15:30pm today.
And a win today would see him go 18 races unbeaten over fences and hurdles - equalling Big Buck’s record.
“I knew we had a good horse from the day he was born and so did the agent who bought him from me for €17,000 on a Sunday afternoon,” said Altior’s breeder Paddy Behan.
“He saw something special in him when he saw him lying in the field, though he never told me what that special thing was.
“But he said he was never going to leave the farm without buying the horse.”
11:15 UPDATE: Cheltenham weather
It’s worth starting out with a look at the weather on this blustery day at Cheltenham.
There is mercifully little rain about - which is good news after a soft day of racing on Tuesday.
However, winds are expected to increase throughout the afternoon, with Storm Gareth sweeping the country.
We can expect plenty of hats to fly to Ladies Day, that’s for sure!
