The American, who shared the lead with Andrew Putnam going into the final round, holed out for eagle to cap a six-shot victory to finish on -19 in Memphis.
Leaving himself just on the fringe of the fairway, Johnson played an aggressive approach directly at the flag.
It paid off as the ball bounced a couple of times before landing in the hole.
Johnson beamed a big smile as he saluted the gallery after his wonder shot.
The 33-year-old’s win - his 18th on the PGA Tour - also sees him climb back above Justin Thomas as world No 1.
