Graeme McDowell pacing himself for Ryder Cup contention
GRAEME McDOWELL begins the defence of his French Open title in Versailles today hoping that a gamble with his playing schedule starts to pay off.
He has fallen way behind in the race to make this year’s Ryder Cup team after taking time off to be with his wife Kristen who is expecting their first child next month.
But at the same time he now feels fresher hopes a run of form will earn him a place to play against the Americans at Gleaneagles in September.

“I have really tried to pace myself because the Ryder Cup is always a goal of mine,” said McDowell. “Hopefully now with a big effort for the rest of the summer I should be able to get myself on to the team.”
