Harrassed official Dow Finsterwald lost 1960 Masters
ONE of the harassed rules officials at Augusta is Dow Finsterwald, the American who was involved in a rumpus of his own when losing out in the 1960 Masters.
Just like Tiger Woods, Finsterwald avoided disqualification for signing an incorrect scorecard after being retrospectively handed a two-shot penalty, which cost him the title and saw him finish third. His ‘crime’, which he confessed, was taking a practice putt on a green after finishing the hole.
