Australian curse troubles Jason Day
THE Australian Masters’ curse is weighing heavily on Jason Day as he attempts to become the first man from Down Under to slip on a Green Jacket.
There’s a lot of pressure on my shoulders being from Australia. I’ve got to get that out of my mind.
Scarcely believably, the list of 76 Masters’ winners does not include a single Aussie, which is a burden the 25-year-old Queenslander could do without today.
“There’s a lot of pressure on my shoulders being from Australia. I’ve got to get that out of my mind,” said Day, who broke into the world’s top 10 in 2011.
Only four Australians are in the Masters’ field this year but that quartet have made an impact, with Marc Leishman, Adam Scott and John Senden all featuring on the leaderboard at some stage.
