Crafty Bubba Watson is creating a buzz
DEFENDING champion Bubba Watson has been making more of a mark outside the gates of Augusta National than inside them thanks to the hovercraft he has parked on nearby Washington Road.
Watson’s vehicle, which manufacturers claim can travel across grass, water and sand without causing any damage, is turning heads among golf fans.
The £40,000 cost will put most of them off but not all. Neoteric Hovercraft, in Indiana, have decided to build 140 after receiving enquiries from across the globe, including several Russian millionaires.
“The big advantage of the hovercraft is that it has a footprint pressure about 30 times less than the human foot so that by hovering across a green you leave absolutely no trace,” said Neoteric’s Chris Fitzgerald.
“They have a very low environmental impact. They can also get up to 50mph. You can literally fly over a water hazard.”
