James Morrison falters at 17th
JAMES MORRISON'S penultimate hole double bogey threw open the doors for his rivals ahead of the final round of the French Open in Versailles.
The 26-year-old Chertsey player was three shots in front with two holes to play but walked off the 2018 Ryder Cup host venue sharing the lead on nine under par with Worksop’s Mark Foster. Morrison carded a one-over-par 72 and Foster a 68 as both players seek a second Race to Dubai title success.
But the big threat could come from Germany’s Martin Kaymer, who shot a 67. He said: “I am very excited as I am only three back, so I have a good chance.”
Lying fourth, Kaymer needs a top-eight finish to go above Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy to No 3 in the world.
