Ryder Cup: Nick Clegg opts not to fly the flag
NICK CLEGG snubbed the official opening of the Ryder Cup despite being just a few miles down the road in Cardiff yesterday.
His name was listed on the official running order but a spokesman for the Deputy Prime Minister said: “Nick Clegg could not accept an invitation because it could not be fitted into his itinerary.”
Media and on-course helpers were ushered into the VIP area to fill up swathes of empty seats in front of the stage but hopes that embarrassment had been avoided were scotched when the Welsh flag only unfurled at the sixth attempt.

There was another hiccup when Stewart Cink was left out from USA captain Corey Pavin’s team announcement, an oversight Pavin corrected after finishing his speech.
