US Open tee times: Third round schedule as McIlroy and Rose battle for lead
US OPEN tee times: Rory McIlroy is just four shots off the lead at Pebble Beach in the US Open, while English star Justin Rose is two shots behind leader Gary Woodland. Here’s the full order of play for the third round.
US Open: Rory McIlroy admits Pebble Beach is 'getting tricky'
Woodland had a brilliant second round, and finished six-under-par to lead the pack going into round three.
After a disappointing second round, Tiger Woods finds himself tied in 32nd place alongside Paul Casey and Luke Donald.
Pre-tournament favourite Jordan Spieth is just one shot ahead tied for 27th.
Brooks Koepka, who had a strong second round, is tied for sixth at four under, and will look to improve on Saturday as he heads out with Matt Wallace.
McIlroy had a good round, finishing two-under-par to bring himself within touching distance of the lead.
Speaking afterwards, the Northern Irishman seemed full of confidence for the weekend ahead.
“Coming off the back of a win last week and having another win this year, as well, and just the consistency that I've shown, it's the best I've felt about my game in a while for sure,” he said.
“Mentally I've been pretty good this week.
“I wasn't as disciplined as I needed to be on a couple of those holes on the back nine, but I bounced back from that, which was a really good sign.
“And look, it's not going to be easy over the weekend, you're going to make bogeys, you're going to make mistakes, it's going to happen.
“If I can keep responding to those mistakes like I did today I'll be right there."
McIlroy will play alongside Chez Reavie today, heading out just before 10.30pm tonight UK time.
