Tiger Woods keeps place as Ryder Cup Saturday foursomes pairings announced
TIGER WOODS has kept his place in Team USA as the Ryder Cup foursomes pairings are announced.
Woods has yet to win a game all weekend and he was dropped for the first foursomes session yesterday.
However, he will play alongside Bryson DeChambeau in the third match this afternoon against Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood - who have won all three of their previous matches.
Rory McIlroy will feature for Team Europe alongside Ian Poulter while Sergio Garcia will partner French Open winner Alex Norden.
Patrick Reed has a nightmare morning, failing to hit the fairway on any of his first seven tee offs, so he has been withdrawn from action.
Saturday foursomes
Johnson/Koepka vs Stenson/Rose
Watson/Simpson vs Garcia/Noren
Woods/DeChambeau vs Molinari/Fleetwood
Spieth/Thomas vs McIlroy/Poulter
What are foursomes and fourballs?
Of the 28 points available over the weekend, eight will be in foursomes and eight will be in fourballs, with a pair from each team playing against each other for the point
In the foursomes, each pair plays with one ball and the players take it in turns to take shots, with the pair taking the least shots on a hole winning it.
In the fourballs, each player plays their own ball and the lowest score on the hole wins it for their pair.
There are then 12 singles matches which are one-on-one contests with each player playing their own ball.
