Why is the Ryder Cup not on BBC? Can you watch the golf on terrestrial TV?
THE Ryder Cup is being broadcast on Sky Sports this weekend, but why have they got the rights from BBC?
BBC were traditionally the free-to-air broadcaster of golf’s most prestigious tournament.
However, upon the creation on Sky Sports in the 1990s they began to get involved in televising the competition.
Great Britain hosted the final Ryder Cup ever shown live on the BBC in 1993 as Sky Sports took full control of the broadcast from 1995.
The multi-million pound agreement has also seen them rebrand Sky Sports 4 to Sky Sports Ryder Cup for the duration of the tournament.
