Tiger Woods: Donald Trump praises golfer's response to reporter
TIGER WOODS has been praised by Donald Trump for a reply he gave to a reporter when asked about the US President.
The legendary golfer is known for his reluctance to engage in political debate, thought to be borne from a fear of upsetting sponsors and large quarters of his fanbase.
He was well-acquainted with former White House occupant Barack Obama, however, playing the occasional round with the Democrat.
But that’s a pastime the neutral Woods has also undertaken with Trump, who heavily praised golf’s smoothest driver on Twitter this afternoon.
While playing at the Northern Trust gold tournament last week, Woods was asked about his ostensible friendship with the current president.
You have to respect the office [of the US president]
“You have to respect the office [of the US president],” Woods plainly replied.
“No matter who is in the office - you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”
Trump took to social media to laud the “great class” which Woods showed in his answer.
“Tiger Woods showed great class in the way he answered the question about the Office of the Presidency and me,” the Republican tweeted.

“So sad, but the ‘center & right’ loves Tiger, Kanye [West], George Foreman, Jim Brown & so many other greats, even more,” he continued.
“The fact is that African/American unemployment is now the lowest in the history of our country.
“Same with Asian, Hispanic and almost every other group. The Democrats have been all talk and no action. My Administration has already produced like no other, and everyone sees it!”
