Liverpool news: Alisson has already done some ‘exceptional’ things, Jurgen Klopp reveals
LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed he’s been thoroughly impressed by what he’s seen of Alisson in training.
Alisson becomes the most expensive goalkeeper at £65m
Alisson, 25, joined the Reds from Serie A giants Roma last month for a whopping £66.8m, a record fee for a goalkeeper.
The Brazilian stopper took part in his first training sessions with his new team-mates since joining the club on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.
And his displays have already caught the eye of his new manager.
“He obviously has a real presence, he's smart, he's very nice and it's good to have him around,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website when discussing the former International star.
"It's only positive, even the performances in training – which is not too important in the beginning – are already exceptional, so all good."
The signing of Alisson has been viewed by many as Klopp adding the final piece of the puzzle he needs for his team to mount sustained challenge for the title, a notion former Chelsea star Dennis Wise agrees with.
“It's time for Klopp to step up to the plate,” Wise told Sky Sports News.
“He's spent £178m on players he's bought in. He's filled gaps that needed to be filled.
Alisson Becker makes INCREDIBLE save in Liverpool training
The performances in training – which is not too important in the beginning – are already exceptional
"He's got an awesome three up front. Mohamed Salah has got to do it again. With a little bit of help from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
“They've added a bit of quality with Xherdan Shaqiri. But, they've bought in Alisson Becker. That was important."
Although he’s only been a Liverpool player for a few weeks, Alisson already feels at ease working under Klopp.
“It has been a great day which I had been looking forward to,” he said after his first training session.
“I’ve had a good few resting days with my family but we all couldn’t wait to get the new season underway soon. It’s only my first day and I feel at home already!
“I’ve met some of my teammates and had my first morning session but the day isn’t over yet as we’ll carry on training this afternoon.”
