Chelsea transfer news: Juventus give update on Gonzalo Higuain’s move to AC Milan
CHELSEA have been given a glimmer of hope by Juventus in the race for Gonzalo Higuain.
Gonzalo Higuain 'blossomed' under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli
Chelsea want to beef up their attack as Maurizio Sarri seeks to stamp his authority on the club.
Higuain has been continually linked with a move to the Blues which could spell the departures of Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata.
Recent reports have suggested that Higuain appears to be AC Milan bound.
Higuain’s brother and agent, Nicolas, is thought to have held talks with Milan’s director of football over a deal which is supposedly an initial loan worth £16million.
And now Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has suggested a deal to take Higuain to Milan might not be so close.
Not so much
When asked if a switch had been agreed, he said: “Not so much.”
Higuain’s future has come under scrutiny following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in Turin earlier this month.
Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri is adamant only the Bianconeri will determine Higuian’s future.
He said: “I am not in charge of the transfer market, that is up to the club.
"I don't even have a [senior] striker here, so let's see [about transfers] because we still have to return to Italy.
"When the market closes on the 17th [of August] the Juventus squad will be as competitive as ever.”
