Man Utd transfer news: Mourinho handed boost as Bayern chief gives green light to exit
BAYERN MUNICH chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says he will not stand in Arturo Vidal’s way if he wants to leave.
Aturo Vidal: Bayern midfielder shows goal-scoring prowess
Manchester United were linked with the Chile midfielder in 2015 but missed out when the 31-year-old opted to join Bayern.
Vidal struggled with injury last season and is now in the final year of his Bayern contract.
Reports in Italy have claimed United are in a race to sign Vidal with Atletico Madrid and both the Milan clubs.
Leon Goretzka has joined Bayern from Schalke and Renato Sanches looks set to be given a chance by new boss Niko Kovac.
If Arturo Vidal comes to us and he wants to leave the club, we will deal with it
That means Vidal faces a battle to be a regular in the starting XI and Rummenigge has opened the door for the midfielder to leave if he wants.
Rummenigge said: "Arturo is known to have another one year contract with us.
“And if he possibly wants to sign up for a club longer, he will deal with it.
"We will not act from our side. If he comes to us and he wants to leave the club, we will deal with it."
United could have an advantage in negotiations as Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich also represents Alexis Sanchez.
Vidal has won three Bundesliga titles and a German cup in his three seasons at Bayern.
