Chelsea transfer news: New revelation emerges on Schmeichel - have Liverpool ruined deal?
KASPER SCHMEICHEL is keen on a move to Chelsea - but Liverpool may have inadvertently thrown a spanner in the works.
Chelsea target Schmeichel in Leicester training
With Real Madrid closing in on a £35million deal for Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea have been scouring out possible replacements.
Brazil's Alisson was one but he this week completed a world-record £68m move - the highest fee ever paid for a keeper - to Liverpool.
And that appears to have been a double blow for the Blues. Not only did they want Alisson themselves but it also leaves Roma looking for a replacement too.
Their hunt has led them to the door of Schmeichel with conversations already being held between Leicester and Roma.
Castles told the Transfer Window podcast: "Chelsea have been talking with Kasper Schmeichel's representatives about a potential move.
"Schmeichel is probably going to cost £20m from Leicester.
"I understand Schmeichel is keen on the move. Interestingly he is also of interest to Roma, who have had some opening negotiations."
But one man the transfer chaos is bad for is David de Gea, who now appears increasingly unlikely to ever get his dream move to the Bernabeu.
"If Real Madrid sign Courtois, that essentially closes the door for David de Gea indefinitely because Courtois is 26 years old," Castles said.
"If he plays to his best level, he's going to be the Real Madrid goalkeeper for the next decade, which means David de Gea is not going any time soon."
