Liverpool transfer news: Xherdan Shaqiri slammed following Anfield move
LIVERPOOL’S new signing Xherdan Shaqiri let Stoke down last season, his former team-mate Charlie Adam claims.
Liverpool: Shaqiri won’t like being Salah’s deputy
The Switzerland international completed his move to Anfield last week.
Liverpool paid just £13m for the winger due to a relegation release clause in his Stoke contract.
The 26-year-old impressed for the Potters last season, however, Stoke didn’t have enough to stay in the Premier League.
And Stoke midfielder Adam has slammed Liverpool’s new signing Shaqiri, claiming he didn’t step up last season.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Adam said: “Was he one of them? Oh, definitely.
“When the chips are down you look at your big players, you want your big players to bring magic in one moment in the season, and it times we felt like the so-called big players in the squad never turned up for us and never performed.

“Yeah, everybody else could help, but for all the plaudits to so-called bigger players we getting from certain members of the management staff last season - they weren’t producing.
“But, listen, he’s gone now. We move on and we look to the future. The future for us at the moment is in the Championship.”
Shaqiri was Liverpool's third summer signing, with the forward following midfield duo Naby Keita and Fabinho to Anfield.
Liverpool are also closing in on Roma goalkeeper Alisson, with the Brazil international set to undergo his Reds medical in the next 48 hours ahead of a world-record £66.8m deal.
Alisson, 25, will pen a six-year contract at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
