Jordan Pickford: England star spotted in BIZARRE training drill before World Cup clash
JORDAN PICKFORD - Dion Dublin noticed something strange about the England star’s training drill before their World Cup semi-final clash against Croatia.
Pickford has been one of England's star performers at the 2018 World Cup with a string of phenomenal saves and being the hero of the penalty shoot-out against Colombia last week.
And as Pickford prepares for the game of his life against Croatia, England coaches put him through his paces in the warm-up.
But former Premier League star Dublin was confused by something in particular Pickford was doing.
“I’ve never seen this before,” Dublin said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“The goalkeeping coach has put the ball on the cone like a rugby ball and is hitting it high into the sky for Jordan Pickford to rise above Jack Butland and collect it.
“He's then volleying straight-as-an-arrow passes out to Nick Pope.
“Pickford's not missed a target yet.”
There were some concerns after England’s win over Sweden that Pickford may miss the semi-final due to injury.
He left the dressing room with heavy strapping on his left hand after a bizarre injury.
But the Everton goalkeeper declared he would be fit.
“It was a daft injury by myself.
“I went to punch the floor but ended up punching my knee and hurt my thumb.
“It was a bit of anger. But I’m a man not a mouse. I’m fine. I’ll live another day won’t I?”
