Jose Gimenez: Uruguay World Cup star in TEARS on the pitch vs France before full-time
JOSE GIMENEZ was in tears on the pitch as Uruguay suffered a World Cup exit to France this afternoon.
Uruguay crashed out to the French in the quarter-finals as goals from Raphael Varane and Antoine Griezmann proved enough.
But the enormity of the occasion and the realisation his country were heading out of the tournament proved too much for Gimenez.

The Atletico Madrid defender couldn’t hide his emotion until after the referee had blown his whistle and with just a few minutes left on the clock, cameras picked up GImenez wiping away his tears as he battled to finish the game.
Jimenez was seen holding his face as he lined up in the wall alongside his team-mates to defend a Griezmann free-kick.
And at full-time Gimnez was one of several Uruguay players crashed out on the pitch as the realisation they’d be leaving Russia began to hit home.
His tears left many on social media feeling sympathy for the 27-year-old.
“Jose Gimenez crying before the end of the game isn't a funny sight to behold....football making a grown man crying ...sorry bro #URUFRA #WorldCup”, tweeted one fan.
“Jose Gimenez is actually crying, how can life be so unfair #URUFRA”, added another.
A third said: “Really really felt for Jose Gimenez, he started crying even before the game ended.”
