West Ham transfer news: Hammers close in on former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere deal
WEST HAM are close to securing a three-year deal to sign free agent Jack Wilshere according to reports.
The England international left Arsenal after 17 years at the club following the expiration of his contract with the Gunners last month.
Wilshere is thought to have held productive talks with West Ham and even completed a medical with the Hammers yesterday, say the Guardian.
He is expected to sign a three-year contract apparently worth in the region of £100,000-a-week to swap north London for the east of the capital.
The 26-year-old would become Manuel Pellegrini’s fourth signing at the London Stadium after Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks and Issa Diop.
Felipe Anderson of Lazio is also thought to be a target although a deal is dragging on with two bids having been rejected as the Italian club look for around £40million to part ways with the winger.
Wilshere moved on from Arsenal after being told by new manager Unai Emery that he would not be a regular starter.
It was another disappointing setback for the Arsenal academy graduate after missing out on England’s World Cup squad.
Jack Wilshere could play for West Ham says expert
The Three Lions have reached the quarter finals in Wilshere’s absence after he was snubbed by Gareth Southgate over apparent fitness concerns.
That was despite Wilshere making 38 appearances across all competitions, a tally he has only bettered once in his career when he was a virtual ever-present in 2010-11 - with 49.
Fenerbahce and Everton have also been linked with Wilshere but West Ham appear to have all but signed the midfielder - who he supposedly supported before joining Arsenal’s youth set up.
