Ian Wright and Lee Dixon go NUTS after England beat Colombia on penalties – WATCH
ENGLAND legends Ian Wright and Lee Dixon went nuts celebrating England’s win over Colombia in the World Cup last-16.
World Cup: Pundits go WILD after England defeat Colombia
Harry Kane put England ahead with his second-half penalty, however, after a last-gasp equaliser from Colombia, the encounter went to go to extra time.
And after neither side could find a winner after another 30 minutes, the clash soon went to the dreaded penalties.
Things looked set to go pear-shaped when Jordan Henderson's penalty was saved, only for Mateus Uribe's spot-kick to rattle the bar and goalkeeper Pickford to deny Carlos Bacca.
Eric Dier kept his composure in the Spartak Stadium cauldron, propelling the Three Lions to a famous 4-3 shoot-out win.
Unsurprisingly the win promoted wild celebrations from ITV pundits Wright, Neville and Lee Dixon.
And fans loved their celebrations on Twitter.
“Love @LeeDixon2 for pulling @GNev2 into the arsenal love in to make it an @England love in! What a reaction,” one fan said.
Another wrote: “That is the best thing I’ve seen on ITV sport - EVER! Love it! Boys .......it’s coming home.”
But despite the wild celebrations, pundit Wright was not impressed with Henderson’s tactics while he was walking up to the spot.
“When you’re watching a penalty shootout, you look for things that people do,” he said on ITV.
“When Jordan was coming up and keeping the ball up, it just worried me. I just think ‘no’.
“It might be something to do with steadying the nerves and that.
“But I was thinking I’d rather see him with the ball focusing on that.
“He’s doing the keepy-uppies, it sent the wrong (message) to me and then he missed it. It really frightened me.
“You look for things like that when people are taking penalties.
“But, like I say, it doesn’t matter really now.”
