Barcelona transfer news: Ernesto Valverde at war with Yerry Mina amid Liverpool links
BARCELONA boss Ernesto Valverde is reportedly at war with Yerry Mina amid links to Premier League giants Liverpool.
Yerry Mina's signing on process for Barcelona
Barcelona boss Valverde signed Mina from Palmeiras back in January.
However, the Colombia international has been tipped to leave for Liverpool after struggling to make his mark at the Nou Camp.
Mina remains below Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique in the Barcelona pecking order and, as a result, a move away could happen.
Barca are keen to get several players off their wage bill as they target a crack at Champions League glory next term.
Yet Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Mina is at odds with Valverde over what decision to make.
It is claimed that Valverde is unconvinced by the player he signed just six months ago.
But Mina, Mundo Deportivo claim, is determined to fight for his Barcelona future and prove he has what it takes to handle life in Catalonia.
His cause could be helped by his performances at the World Cup in Russia.
Mina scored twice in the group stage, in matches against Poland and Senegal, and is proving to be a vital player for Jose Pekerman’s team.
The ultimate test for the Barcelona centre-back, though, will come against England on Tuesday night.
There, the 23-year-old will be charged with the task of marking Harry Kane, who has bagged five goals from just two outings so far.
Barcelona FC’s Yerry Mina does a round of quick-fire questions
Liverpool could be particularly attentive with Jurgen Klopp supposedly keen to secure Mina’s signature.
But, speaking as Colombia prepare for their World Cup showdown with England, the defender expressed a desire to be a Barcelona hit.
“My dream is to make history with Barcelona; the best club in the world for me,” he said.
“That’s why I try to do things right.
“I hope to have the confidence of the coach and if not I will continue working.”
