Liverpool transfer news: Naby Keita likely squad number revealed
NABY KEITA is poised to get the squad number eight when he formally joins Liverpool, according to reports.
Keita was pictured on Merseyside last weekend as he gears up for the start of his Liverpool career.
The Guinea international is expected to link up with the rest of Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the beginning of pre-season training on July 2.
And according to the Liverpool Echo, Keita is likely to inherit the No 8 shirt which hasn’t been used since Steven Gerrard left the club in the summer of 2015.
The report also claims that Keita has requested to take the shirt, although there hasn’t been an official announcement from the Anfield outfit yet.
've said it before, we don't need to sell
Keita was pictured signing autographs for the Reds fans and signing the No 8 next to his name.
Prior to Gerrard, the No 8 shirt was also worn by the likes of Stan Collymore and Emile Heskey.
Meanwhile, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has warned Liverpool they don’t need to sell Nabil Fekir.
