Germany team news: Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira DROPPED for Sweden World Cup clash
GERMANY boss Joachim Low will drop Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira for the crucial Group F clash with Sweden on Saturday evening.
The reigning World Cup champions suffered a humiliating opening day defeat to an inspired Mexico side, leaving their hopes of qualifying in doubt.
A win against Sweden would see the German's go into the final game against South Korea with a strong chance of making the knockout stages.
And it appears Low is taking no chances ahead of his side's second group outing.
According to Bild, both Ozil and Khedira will left out of the starting line up on Saturday night.
Both players failed to impress in Moscow last week and were on the end of some harsh criticism from fans after the Mexico defeat.
Bild are reporting that team-mate Mats Hummels has picked up a minor injury during training this week and will be unavailable for the clash.
German FA general manager Oliver Bierhoff jumped to the defence of Ozil and Khedira earlier this week, saying: "I wouldn’t pin this criticism on just Ozil and Khedira.
There were several players who underperformed
"There were several players who underperformed.
"It was more than just those two. I’m all for judging players toughly.
"But when it gets unfair, it’s unfair."
Germany take on Sweden at 7pm this evening.
