Wilshere explanation
Arsenal star Jack Wilshere will not fit into new coach Unai Emery’s style of play - and that is why he will leave the club this summer, reckons Tony Cascarino.
Cascarino admits he worried for Wilshere as soon as Emery was appointed as Arsene Wenger’s successor.
“I was very uncertain. I felt Jack wouldn’t be as mobile as what he wants from his players to be,” he said on talkSPORT.
“That typical pressing style that a lot of clubs do, get in their face, being able to do a lot of 40-50 metre runs to close people, get to people as quick as you can.
“I don’t think Jack fits into that style.”
Ozil backing
Julian Draxler has backed Mesut Ozil to deliver for Germany amid criticism of his decision to take a picture with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his sluggish form.
“All the noise about Mesut being subdued and not up to his best is not true and has been way over the top,” Draxler said.
“The debate about his body language has been raging for a couple of years but he is an exceptional player.
“He has technical abilities that are unparalleled. He's probably our most creative player. He will be there when we need him and he will deliver.”
Wilshere heading for Arsenal exit
Jack Wilshere’s odds of leaving Arsenal have reached record lows with Ladbrokes.
The midfielder has reportedly been told by Unai Emery that he won't be a regular starter at the Emirates, and that's forced bookies to slash odds of him leaving to just 1/4.
And it's West Ham who are clear favourites for his signature, with West Ham and Wolves 7/1 and 8/1 shots respectively.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "He might be Mr Arsenal but there's a new man in town in the shape of Emery, who looks set to send Jack packing this summer."
Scouts left disappointed
Arsenal had scouts watching two stars at Portugal vs Spain on Friday.
Arsenal have been linked with Portugal’s Gelson Martins but the Sporting Lisbon winger didn’t feature in the match.
Martins could be available on a free transfer because of a dispute with his club.
Wilshere blast
West Ham United legend Sir Geoff Hurst says his former club should not sign Jack Wilshere because he is injury prone.
Hurst said: ”Wilshere is injury prone and you don't want to sign players like that.
"We've already got Andy Carroll. Wilshere for me is a complete no. There's enough players in the world. West Ham don't need to sign cast-offs, injured players and players that are too old.
"For God's sake, surely we have enough money to buy a bit of quality."
Seri update
Arsenal are among three Premier League teams interested in Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.
According to Sky Sports reporter Peter Graves, the Gunners, Chelsea and Man City are considering moves for the 26-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder.
Graves told the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast: “Talk about a saga. His [Seri’s] name keeps coming up. He is attracting interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City.”
Roma in for Leno
Arsenal face a battle with Serie A side Roma for first-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
According to Premium Sport, Roma are keen on a swoop as they consider replacements for Alisson.
The Brazil stopper looks set for Real Madrid after agreeing on personal terms with the European champions.
