Antoine Griezmann: Atletico Madrid star to make LeBron James-style announcement TONIGHT
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN will reveal whether he intends to stay with or leave Atletico Madrid in a TV special this evening in a similar way to how LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010.
Griezmann’s future at Atletico has been a hot topic for well over a year now when last summer it looked as though he would join Manchester United.
A transfer ban for Diego Simeone’s side led to the striker opting against leaving as they would have been unable to bring in a replacement.
United then switched their attention to Romelu Lukaku, seemingly ending any interest they had in signing Griezmann.
That has left the door open for Barcelona to make a move for the 27-year-old.
Antoine Griezmann The Decision
Griezmann has been long linked with a move to the Nou Camp and could be available for £89million due to a clause in his contract being activated this summer.
Leading up to the 2018 World Cup, he faced further questions about his future and Griezmann has announced he will clear the air in a TV special titled ‘The Decision’ this evening (8.15pm BST).
Aired on Spanish TV network Cero, Griezmann will once and for all declare whether he intends to stay or leave Atletico this summer.
It bares a striking resemblance to how LeBron James addressed his free agency back in 2010.
The three-time NBA champion stunned everyone when he opted to announce his decision to the world via a TV special titled ‘The Decision’ where he revealed he would be joining the Miami Heat.
